4th of September, 2013 — Workout — Rows, Pushups, Wide Grip L-Sit Pullups, Dips, Bulgarian Split Squats, One-Leg Romanian Deadlifts & Full Body Squats with Calf Raises

My Fellow Convicts,

How’re you crazies doing today? Hoping you kicked some A out there with your workouts today, I know I sure did! Things are going smoothly with my meetup groups, I’m getting more comfortable, and most important I’m helping others become fit! What else could be more rewarding than that huh? I’m going to have to switch things up a bit though, as I’m losing the gains with regards to my own personal goals. I’m all for helping others, but when my personal goals start to slip I need to change things up a bit. I’m considering switching my routines to Tue / Thur / Sat or Sun. This will be twofold, as I’ll be able to devote all of my attention to my ‘students’ and I’ll still be able to progress with my goals. Working out is awesome, but its even more awesome when youve some goals to work towards … dont you think?

Leave me some awesome gains, or accomplishments you guys have achieved today, this week, this month … anything!

STAY STRONG!

Whats happening my fellow Convicts?

Had four people showing up today that I was ‘training.’ Was at a local school’s playground today. It’s so much fun working outside! I’m not sure how conventional gyms succeed when mother nature is so much more beautiful and nothing beats having fresh clean air and natural sunlight highlighting your workouts!

STAY STRONG!

Whats happening my fellow Convicts?

Hope you’re all doing well, and progressing well. I’ve recently started a meetup.com group to help spread the word of Natural Movement & Calisthenics! It’s pretty exciting, and one of the first steps towards my goal of training individuals and progressing their level of fitness.

On that note, I created a routine for one of my buddies who joined me today. Hopefully the first of many, as he’s the drive, just lack’s the motivation and direction sometimes. I decided to do the workout I created for him today just to introduce him to how powerful and amazing Calisthenics can be for your body! Here’s what we did.

10th of December, 2012 — Workout — Pushups, Full Pullups, Military Press & Let Me In’s

OK Convicts, today’s the first day of my eight week’s of fun using the You Are Your Own Gym intermediate routine.

Starting things off with Pushups – HOT DAMN!!! After coming down the ladder the first time and starting with the Wide Grip Pushups, my chest & shoulders were on fire!

Taking a Five minute breather after the Pushups. Need to check on what’s next as well as get a damn’d drink. Thankfully the Let Me Up’s are the same as doing Horizontal Pulls. Only downside, is I’m not sure where I can do them at my apartment now! I think I may just doing my CC Pullup routine for this one. Going to do 30s rest’s between sets again

Beating myself up today guys! You’d better be staying motivated, and pushing yourself today!!?

Taking another five-minute breather from those Pullups before I go onto the next set. It’s back to YAYOG, and the ladders. Doing the good ol’ Military Press today. Going to be brutal and I’m going to have to battle my way through these I’m feeling. My shoulders are getting their work on today though.

Not sure if its the different exercises, or maybe its the ladder’s but I haven’t pushed myself so hard that I’ve been shaking like the ending of those Military Presses. WOW, those suckers know how to break you down and make you did deep to persevere. When I looked up the first time, the clock still said ~ four minutes left! The little whiner tried to creep in and kill me – had to fight it off. I’m thinking I’ll be pretty worn out by the time I finish up these Let Me In’s.

Definitely another five-minute breather before I dive into the Let Me In’s. I’m going to have to mod it a bit, because the door’s at this apartment are pretty weak. I’m going to use a town and my Pullup station. Think it’ll workout well.

Overall guys, excellent workout today! I know I hit some muscles that’ve missed getting beat up, today.  I’ll see if I can get some links to the workouts, as I didn’t feel like filming them today – as well as the Ladder workout.

25th of July, 2012 — Workout — Pullups, Pushups & Squats

Starting things off with one my favorites Jump Rope! It’s such an amazing way to warmup the entire body, and plus I dislike running!

Doing the Pullups & Squats together because I don’t want to be working out ’til 8:30 again.

HOLY CRAP! These Jackknife Pulls are beating me up today. With not having done these bad boys in a bit definitely takes it toll on you. Goes back to what I was saying yesterday about being consistent. I’m hoping I can get this last set of 12, but I was really struggling on the last three of the second set.

On the Squat side though, I’m very happy I can get these consistently this time. My balance has improved from the last time I’ve done them. Still a bit sketchy on the right leg, but that’s always been a bit tight since I broke that ankle when I was younger.

Well I got the three sets of 12 reps finally, although I don’t feel as though it’s as legit as I want it. I got a phone call during my rest time so I had a little extra time to recover – Thinking that’s the only reason I was able to accomplish that. I’m going to give them another week of 12 reps before I move onto the next series as I don’t like how it was accomplished. Still feels good to get them done, but like I said, just doesn’t feel right.

Let me tell you what, on the last set of Uneven Squats ~ rep seven +, things got rough. Whole body shakes, but gnar dog strength / muscle building reps those were.

Finishing things up with my favorite workout ever – some good ol’ fashioned Pushups! I’m going to try to stay focused on keeping ~ 80% of my weight over the arm over the ball with the Uneven Pushups. Thanks to an article by my friend and follower Dave – which ‘Coach’ Wade states this is the most common error with the Uneven Pushups.

Dave, man Internet High Five you bro! Great article, and excellent change. Having the majority of my weight over the ball makes my stabilizer muscles work that much harder. I can see now why this is the recommended way to do them as it works the muscles that much harder in preparation for the Master Step. That totally shredded my pec’s. I know not having done them in a bit doesn’t help, but there’s a profound difference in the feeling I get doing them this way. For those interested the article is –> HERE

Second set wasn’t any better, I can feel the fatigue setting in – I know I can get these last 24 reps though. My body’s telling me NO WAY JOSE, but I control my body – I tell it when It’s had enough – Never sent limits. As Mr. Lee puts it:

If you put limits on what you can do, physically or anything else, it’ll spread over into the rest of your life. It’ll spread over into your mortality, into your entire being. There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you. A man must constantly exceed his level.
