8th May, 2012 — Workout — Pushups & Leg Raises

Got a late start on my workouts today, as I had a lot of errands and general running around to do today, unfortunately. I don’t really like working out this late, but I don’t like missing a day more than I don’t like working out this late … quite a mouth full!

So as the title states, today is the Pushup and Leg Raise routine. Here we go!!

I’m going to focus today on keeping the two second down, one second pause, two back up speed, as well as the 30 second break between sets in the work sets, and 60 second breaks between work sets. I already notice an immediate change in the difficulty on the last two with those little pauses. Its making my shoulders burn real bad. This last work set is going to take everything I have to keep proper form with those pauses. WHEW, haven’t had Pushups make me sweat that bad in a while. Those pauses are money, let me tell you. Some serious strength building moves right there. On the last set in the third work set I decided to use a wide stance to focus a little more on my Pectorals, and it worked haha.

Next time I’m going to do the Leg Raises, I’m going to have to wait to fool around with my girlfriend until after. My abs already got a pretty intense workout. About rep 19 of the second set of the Flat Frog Raise warmup my whiner side started to creep up. I can remember it saying, ‘ Why’re you even working out? It’s America, you’re expected to be a slob ‘ Man I can’t stand that little dude. I really wish I could somehow stomp it out, but I feel like he’s always going to be able to creep in somehow. I guess it’s more of how to deal with it, than squashing him out entirely, because he’ll never go away. Woo Hoo for ‘Paint it Black’ by the ‘Stones coming on to give me that extra motivation and little adrenaline rush to push through. It seems like a clutch song always comes on during crunch time like that. Music is a pretty powerful motivation tool I used. What kind of music drives you?

Although It’s only my second round of doing these Leg Raises, I am always happy once the warmup is complete and I don’t have to do the four seconds down. Ah, the good ol’ leg shake — somethings working!

One more work set to go, man my hip flexors are screaming. Keep on truckin’.
